On The Mark and Karen Waldron win 2008 World's Grand Champion Hackney Pony
There were many changes this year at the Kentucky State Fair. The most important one being Vindicator’s retirement after winning it all in 2007 driven by Karen Waldron and trained by Lee Hudson. He has been our linchpin for 16 years. Metaphorically holding our wheel together, feeling that he was the essential element in the success of our team. It was time for him and for us at Bent Tree Farm to look on and up. Then in steps On the Mark to refocus on a different bred line for the farm. The Mark of Excellence lineage.
Without a doubt On the Mark is one of the most perfect physical examples of a Hackney pony. His way of moving and carriage is what we look for as a breed standard for that division.
What a great honor it was to win and especially to drive the 2008 World’s Grand Champion Hackney Pony. Several years before On the Mark was crowned with the title driven by his trainer and breeder Larry Ella, but this year was our time. If questioned why I am so passionate about driving the answer lays in the stock I have chosen and the athletic ability they possess. They never disappoint. More pictures from Louisville >>
Heartland's Ooh La La and Karen Waldron
For over a decade, Bent Tree Farm has concluded our show season in November at The Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, Ontario, Canada having the pleasure of competing for the Canadian Championships as well as the Hackney Horse World’s Championships. There is no show in North America that I have experienced in my long career that compares in both spirit of exhibitors and audience, diversity of breeds and exhibitions, and shear pleasure of participation. Year after year we have had amazing successes with stock showing both from the farm and under guidance of other trainers. We will continue to look forward to being with the friends we have made in Canada and the competitiveness they have shared. More pictures from the Royal >>
